🐬 Dolphins Weekly Update: Celebrating Week 2 & Charging Into Week 3!
Hey Dolphin Family,
What a weekend! We just wrapped up our second week of competition, and while the scoreboard showed FMW over RV by the narrowest possible margin—206 to 208—the real story of the day was the incredible effort from our swimmers.
We saw absolutely massive time drops across the board, with so many kids shaving multiple seconds off their personal bests. They are improving rapidly week over week, and you should be incredibly proud of their hard work and grit.
- Check the Results: Full meet results, including individual swimmer times, are now available on the NVSL website under the Schedule/Results tab.
- Updated Ladders: The latest team ladders are attached to this message and can also be found posted directly on SwimTopia under the Records tab. Check them out to see where everyone stands heading into Week 3!
🌟 A Massive Thank You to Our Volunteers (Our Heroes!)
An A-meet cannot run without an army of volunteers, and this weekend truly tested our flexibility. A massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who stepped up, especially those who filled multiple on-deck positions in our hour of need.
A special shout-out to Sara Dyson, Pradeep Gupta, and Agatha Heebe for pulling double duty by handling RTO responsibilities alongside timing or clerking. We also want to deeply thank those dedicated members who stepped up to work the deck even though they didn’t have a swimmer competing in this meet. You embody the true spirit of this community!
📝 A Crucial Note on Volunteer Commitments
On that note, I need to make an important request regarding our volunteer roles. We went to sleep on Friday night with every single position fully staffed, only to wake up Saturday morning to multiple empty spots.
We completely understand that life happens—kids get sick, emergencies pop up, or plans change if your swimmer isn't seeded into the Saturday lineup. However, please do not drop a volunteer role in the middle of the night without notice. If you absolutely cannot make your shift, please communicate directly with me and post in our Facebook member group so the community can help fill the gap. When positions are dropped silently, it puts immense pressure on the deck staff and risks delaying the meet for the kids. Thank you for your cooperation and communication moving forward!
🥤 Concessions Update: Drink & Chip Donations Needed!
Our concession stand is running incredibly low on drinks! To help us restock ahead of our big home meet this weekend, we need a little help from our community:
- Wednesday Sign-Up: To make it easier to find, I have moved the Concession Drink Donations sign-up directly to this Wednesday's event on SwimTopia.
- Pep Rally Sign-Up: I have also added slots for both concession drink and chip donations to this week's Pep Rally sign-up page.
If you are able to pitch in a case of soda, water, or a variety pack of chips, please log into SwimTopia and sign up. Every donation directly supports the team!
🗓️ Looking Ahead: Week 3 Schedule & Deadlines
Alright, enough looking back—let’s look forward to a massive Week 3!
⚠️ Monday, June 29: ADJUSTED Practice Schedule (MONDAY ONLY)
Out of an abundance of caution, we are adjusting Monday morning's practice schedule. Pest control will be on-site to safely remove a hornets' nest, and we need the pool deck completely cleared before they begin their work.
Please note that each main team session is shortened by 15 minutes, and times have been shifted earlier. Here is the exact schedule for Monday morning only:
- 12 & Under Session 1: 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM
- 12 & Under Session 2: 8:15 AM – 9:00 AM
- 13 & Over: 9:00 AM – 9:45 AM
- Pups Session 1: 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM
- Pups Session 2: 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM
Please ensure you drop off and pick up your swimmers promptly so we can clear the deck for the maintenance crew.
🌙 Evening Practices Reminder (Tuesday & Thursday)
We had a fantastic turnout for our evening practices last week! If your swimmer plans to attend this week, please remember to RSVP on SwimTopia.
As a friendly reminder, please try to reserve evening practices for those families who absolutely cannot make the morning sessions. We only have two lanes available to work with in the evenings, so keeping the numbers manageable ensures our coaches can provide the high-quality instruction and attention our swimmers need to thrive!
🏊 Meets & Relays
- B-Meet (Monday Night): I am highly hopeful Mother Nature behaves this week so we can get our B-Meet in! This is a fantastic opportunity for our swimmers to get new legal times, improve on alternative strokes, or log their first IM time of the season.
- 🚨 Rally in the Alley (Wednesday Night): This Wednesday is our Rally in the Alley meet! This is a fantastic, high-energy developmental relay event specifically for our 12 and under swimmers. Action item: You must RSVP and register your child (or yourself for the fun family relays!) on SwimTopia by 6:00 PM TONIGHT if you plan to participate.
- Saturday A-Meet (HOME on July 4th!): We are hosting again this Saturday! Since it falls right on Independence Day, we want everyone—swimmers, parents, and volunteers—decked out in your best Red, White, and Blue.
- 💥 Most Spirited Dolphin Award: We will be handing out a special prize for the most patriotic and enthusiastic Dolphin on the deck, so bring your absolute A-game!
- Friendly reminder to declare your swimmer's availability by Tuesday at 5:00 PM.
🔍 Quick Items for Next Week (Week 4 Preview)
We also have a couple of major items just over the horizon next week that require some early planning:
- Divisionals Relay Carnival (Next Wednesday): The declaration deadline for this major event is approaching quickly—please make sure to log onto SwimTopia and declare your swimmer's availability ahead of time.
- 📸 Team Picture Day (Friday, July 10th): Mark your calendars! Picture day is officially coming up next Friday. If your swimmer doesn’t already have a team suit, now is the perfect time to pick one up so everyone looks unified for the group photo.
Let's carry the incredible momentum from this weekend into a fantastic week of practice. See you on the deck!
Go Dolphins!
